  • 'I shall miss the obstetrics in particular and have been very grateful for the superb support throughput my professional life from the OAA and the excellent variety of meetings which I have invariably found stimulating and thought provoking'
  • 'I retired from all clinical practice at the end of March 2011. I became a member of the OAA in 1981. As an obstetric anaesthetist for all my consultant years, I have found the Association to be the most fantastic advocate for safer obstetric anaesthesia. I have attended almost every annual meeting where I met truly inspiring people from throughout the UK and overseas. I cannot thank you enough for the opportunities you gave me. The obstetric dilemmas meetings were the springboard for the great advances made and for the discussions they engendered. I gained from them all. Keep up the good work and look after the future generations of obstetric anaesthetists as well as you did this one.'
  • 'I've just done the anaesthetic clinic where we see any antenatal patients with questions or anxieties about anaesthetics as well as all patients booked for elective caesarean section. I've handed out copies of your leaflets about pain relief in labour and anaesthesia for caesarean section in English and printed off copies of the C/S leaflet in Urdu and Tamil. I don't know what I'd do without you!'
  • 'I just wanted to say thank you for the guidelines. The one about PDPH and epidural blood patch has been very useful for giving to patients after they have had a blood patch so they can get home as soon as possible and know what might arise and what to be concerned about. Our postnatal wards have four or six mothers and babies in each bay so mothers get very little sleep while they're with us and I don't want them to spend an unnecessary sleepless night in hospital. We make use of the translations of all the information leaflets for some of our patients from Eastern Europe. Your epidural information sheets are on every epidural trolley.
  • 'The OAA is truly awesome at present. I love the guidelines collection, and the webcasts of lectures etc.'
