OAA Maternal Critical Care

The MCC SC was created in June 2013, to bring under a formal structure the work already being done by a group of interested individuals. The full sub-committee draws from diverse groups and is chaired by Dr Audrey Quinn. The Sub-Committee meets quarterly.

Activities of the Sub-Committee:

  1. To identify standards and expertise in the management of the acutely unwell pregnant or recently delivered mother
  2. To develop links between MCC specialists in the UK via Royal Colleges and associated UK healthcare bodies
  3. To build a consensus on models of care
  4. To develop agreed multi-disciplinary curricular training and education
The OAA holds an annual Maternal Critical Care one day course, exploring this emerging area in obstetrics with particular reference to the challenges for obstetric anaesthetists

The OAA contributes to ICNARC, the Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre
